Shown on this page is a bevel gear operator that was mounted to a non-rising stem gate valve. Because the valve stem was non-rising, the normal method of establishing valve position, a linear indicator mounted to the rising stem, could not be used. Instead we mounted a GPI, Ground Level Position Indicator, to the input shaft of the bevel gear. This allowed us to locally monitor the valves relative position to open or closed.
